Allegations of collusion among landlords, facilitated by software from companies like RealPage and Yardi, have led to federal investigations into rent-setting practices. State and local governments are now pushing to ban these collusive algorithms, aiming to curb rent gouging and protect tenants across New Jersey from exploitative housing practices.
